And Automotive paint are different? I'd guess there is flex agent in the marine pait to keep it from cracking.

Can anyone tell me why its not ok to paint a boat cockpit with automotive urethane?

If your talking Imron and Awlgrip, regular Awlgrip is a harder paint, than Imron but Awlcraft is very much the same as Imron. We will use Awlcraft for hullsides, but always use Awlgrip for topsides. and decks.

you can use single stage urethane on topsides. Just won't last as long as the good stuff.

i thought it was because the can had a picture of a boat on it and that jacked the price at least 2000% more. just like the spk plugs i was looking at w marine with the pretty picture of the boat on each them for only $7. 55 ea. went to advance and picked em up for $2.25 ea in the ugly little square box. Thou shout not steal.
