Should be interesting to see what the IOPTF greenies say we should do to protect our oceans. Their writing implies they have included the thoughts of fishermen in their plans - why don't I believe that?

Just like closing the Hatteras beaches through the manipulation of a Federal judge, these folks will do whatever they can to remove human presence from "their" oceans and coastlines. Keep an eye on this and make sure our elected reps know we don't want this to result in closures of our fishing grounds or fishing seasons.

You can bet this new IOPTF framework of theirs and the resulting laws and policies will be the building blocks upon which they try to choke offshore fishing down to nothing here in the USA. With ESA, NEPA, CITES and the rest of their alphabet soup of environmental laws and regulations, they are moving closer and closer to their goals, and this sweeping effort is likely to establish the final legal framework they need to shut us down offshore. And our tax dollars are paying tens of millions of dollars for these folks salaries during the time they sit there and craft the language to screw us.

Speak up and send emails to your elected reps on this so they know what's going on and how we feel about it.

at lease you are paying attention. Been hammering on the commercial side for a while now. Rec fisheries are next! People who utilize natural resources for a living or for fun should not be divided on this issue.

Thanks Charley! The preemptive emails and letters to elected officials is our first line of defense!! This may not seem like much now, but it is likely the first subtle step toward closing our offshore fishery...Let's not let it get that far!!!
