Started the day trolling towards the bridge from #6 marker. Trolled from 9:00 to almost 1:00 without a hit. Marked very little bait. As I got near the bridge, one of the trollers let us know that they had marked some bait, and lost a large fish (and their umbrella). I found the bait, but couldn't find any takers. Decided I was going to troll past the bridge - but never got that far. 4 oz chute 200 ft back got hit - I was certain it was a small fish - didn't hit that hard. Started reeling the fish in - for the 1st 100 ft the fish came in easy - then it clearly decided it didn't want to come to the boat after all. Fought the fish for the next 10 minutes, and got it to the boat - all 38"! First fish caught this fall on a 9" shad - white with a black head.

Trolled for about an hour back downriver, marked some bait, but no more fish. Felt very fortunate to get the one fish. Lots of radio chatter - most out in the bay, with fish few and far between. I quit fishing at 2:30 - so don't know if the bite picked up after that or not.

Waynesboro,, that was me in the cc that put out the call. Was fishing solo today, and realizing now I need to do more mating and less driving going forward. Had the drag been less I would have seen my fish, and hawg I know he would be the way he was ripping drag.
Nice fish and congrats!! I was back at the dock early to spend time w/ baby.

Might have only been one fish but it's a nice one! Good job.

Pepsi, we heard your call about the lost hawg. We were between 6 and 8 most of the day.

I also got your report, and pulled through the bait right after you. Didn't hook up, but certainly appreciate your help. I wound up getting my limit, but it was a slow morning

RT, When I saw you passing by, I thought I had seen your name on here. Didn't sleep last night reliving my steps, but that is the way it goes.
I know it comes up every year, but we should really have a different VHF channel for the regulars to share info if they choose when on the water. Or Think I remember it being 78 +1.
