Fisherman

Just got off the phone with Kevin. After nearly two weeks of silence it was good to hear his voice. He was calling from Cedar Key where he was stopping off before making his last big push through the Big Bend area of the Gulf of Mexico. All is still well and he sounds up beat. Paddling has been good but he has had some trouble finding camp sites and he spent two separate days beached by the wind. Fishing has been excellent. He’s had red drum and flounder for breakfast, caught a 30 inch cobia, sight casted to about 100 huge jack crevalle, hooked into an acrobatic lady fish, and this morning he hooked and landed a 44 inch black drum from the beach. His equipment is holding up nicely, though his boat is taking on water through the hatch and the tent doesn’t seem to be able to keep out the bugs. Otherwise, all is as well as can be expected for a dude who is paddling for a living. One stroke at a time.
