Mark -
I am in, but will not be able to attend the Jan meeting. Please bmail me your address.
On another note, I suggest that we allocate a small percentage of the pot for the smallest pickerel caught on hook and line during the tourney. That would add an additional target and could create some good stories.

I can do the leaderboard again and I'm in! I plan on attending the meeting at Hooter's:D, but send me your address so I can send in my check just in case I miss the meeting.
Also, how about bumping the minimum size for the leaderboard to 21"? Last year we had 21 fish that were 21+.

I have no problem with the 21" minimum, but I echo Mark's request that we report as accurately as we can all of the fish that we are catching (not necessarily with pics, just numbers and size estimates each time). Since Pickerel are such an indicator species for the River on a number of water quality/water salinity issues, this is a great opportunity to do an assessment of how the Pickerel are doing.

And thanks, Rod, for doing the leaderboard again.

...people seem to have a tough time staying on the Skeeter when the water is below 42 degrees.

Not sure when I will have time to fish, or when I will get the skiff out through the ice, but Im in.
May as well donate a little money to Greg or Chris.
Wish everyone a good holiday.

When's the deadline to sign up anglers? Still trying to solidify the Skeeter's crew. Good to see Mully decided not to participate this year.

Chris,
We'll accept the entry fee right up until the the January 6th meeting but in order to participate in the Pickerel tournament club members need to let us know in this thread before midnight on January 31st that they plan on being in the tournament.

Right now its me, Randy and Alex for sure. Gotta check on a few more.
I worry some people may not sign up on this thread and will just show up at the next meeting expecting to sign up. I vote we allow people to sign up at Hooters, but only allow fish caught before the 6th to count if you replied on this post. I would hate for some people to miss out on it because they didn't ready the new rules...

I'm in. I may try the "fly only" thing as well as Fisham.
I'm not going "full bore" though. It felt like fishing in this thing over the past 3 years was my job (I wish it was), but it consumed every minute of my spare time. Not to mention all of the worry with wondering what you guys may have caught on any given day and trying to keep up with that.
I'm fishing for fun and a personal best on the fly.

I'm in. I may try the "fly only" thing as well as Fisham.
Since Mully is giving up too, I am going to consign myself to fishing with only the Turd Lure and a bamboo pole.

I don't know how many of you have targeted pickerel in the last couple of months as I have. The months of November and December have always been very good to me, both in size and ,especially, in numbers. Not so this past winter. I caught several fish on a couple of occasions in a couple of well-known pickerel grounds. Other than that, most days have been met with skunks.

I know the leaderboard is a website, but that is ridiculous. Greetings from warm (low 70s) and humid Houston.

Kevin, what you see is correct. The leaderboard has been collecting dust and cobwebs. John is correct, it is now a WEBSITE.;-)
Just an FYI, I won't be able to update the leaderboard until next weekend. Tomorrow I'm flying down to Texas to chase some reds and specks in the Laguna Madre. I won't have my computer and will only have limited internet access. I will check in next weekend to see if there are any new entries. If not then I will go ahead and add Mark's fish to the leaderboard. Good luck to anyone who attempts to hit the river this weekend for some pickerel.
Hopefully, I'll catch a few of these toothy critters again on this trip to Texas.

A big congratulations to Kevin for his 2010 SRRKC Winter Pickerel win. Here are the final results (below) for one of the toughest tournaments on record due to the weather. We have changed the start time to December 1st for next year's Winter Pickerel derby in an attempt to get some decent fishing in before the weather turns bad.
2010 Winter Pickerel Tournament final results
1st place - Kevin - 20.5 inches
2nd place (tie) Chris "deadlowtide" - 20 inches
2nd place (tie) Mark "attml" - 20 inches
