Looks like tuesday morning if the weather holds. Will be leaving Elizabeth City for Rudee about 7:30 wondering if anyone else was thinking about fishing?
Fourth Island went Saterday with not to much luck on the big ones but make the short run and finished out the day at the first island and limited out on the schoolies for everyone in the boat. 22-28 inch.

Bite was early. We got on the water about 8:45 but it was over by 9. Pulled in one within 4 minuets of putting the lines out then slow going the rest of the day. Ended up with 7 all total 3 keepers but it was tough fishing. Bait every where, loosing bottom on the fish finder, and birds, but had fun anyway. Going to slide over to Birddogs ditch Friday and see if I can help him out with his problem he has been having.
Watching the weekend weather like everyone else.
FYI. We know where the fish are up there. 3 to 10 miles out according to everyone reports, BUT!! 3 miles and about 400 yards on past that wonderful line sat 4 Fish and game or coast guard boats, (D MAN)watching everything we did. Air support also. One boat got I would not say 100 yards over and he got to met some of the boys. They don't play up there. It ain't like OI.

Coinjock Friday.
Cp had to have some work done on her car so we dropped the car Friday about 9 and headed stright to Coinjock. Trolled south and there was one guy in the middle under the overpass that looked like he was using eels or very slow jigging that said he caught one. We went to the inside and nailed one that felt kinda nice but that was short lived and I never seen him. Trolling 4 rods out and he tangled up two on the run towards the hill. That was the only bite we had and pulled the stumps to the opening then back to poll 118 and trolled to the flats on the right side. Never marked the first fish. Small bait once in a while but nothing that even set the alarm off on the fish finder. Slow day.
My insound buddy is taking the NO FEAR outlook today and gone to Manns. Will report on their trip when he calls.

They are still there. My bud called to torture me with his drag singing. They were jigging, and got fish to 39", but the eelers were getting bigger of course.
I'm curious of how this snow will affect the water temps and fishing...

Where did your father fish Thill. I'm watching the reports hard on the VA board but things are slow right now. I was thinking maybe the cows would be moving down to OI since the water was so cold up there and seen reports of 39 today on one thread. Watching and waiting and hoping others post reports.

It wasn't my dad, but a friend who posts here but doesn't post much. They were fishing pilings at the CBBT yesterday and today. They said the fish were NOT on the islands, like a few weeks ago, but were on the pilings in the deeper water, 45-65' deep.
The routine is the same. Get uptide of the pilings, open the bail with a 2 ounce jig, and let it drop till it hits bottom. Close the bail, and start working it up the water column as you drift by the pilings. He said they were about 20' off the bottom and tight to the pilings today. He said after awhile, he figured out where to stop the jig, 2/3 the way down, and the catching got faster. He said they only got 3 over slots, a handfull of slot fish and tons and tons of 24-28" fish. He said they worked hard, and reaped the rewards. Good times, for sure, despite the early morning and evening cold.
I forgot to ask if he was going to fish tonight or if he was heading home. I got my boat dug out this afternoon, and am 50/50 on heading out to fish in the morning. Will post the results on the VA board, for sure. If the fishing isn't good, I plan to head down to OI and fish the bridge and nearshore. I've had some good fishing down there, too!
Hope this helps.
