They're here! Early reports show cobia on the piers and tons of bait everywhere. Who's up for a cobia trip Sunday early AM. Depending on weather. I'll be outta town Friday and Saturday, but I'll try and keep in cell or web contact. We'll launch from the S-turns in Sandbridge and fish the buoy about 2 miles out.

Just a word of caution, this trip may require some advanced skills, such as surf entries and exits, as well as some serious open water paddling. Not to mention the potential of fighting and landing a big fish. Please buddy up and watch each others backs.

I may be out there, but will have to see what the weekend has in store.

If I don't have to go to the farm (which after the phone call last night has become a very real possibility).....

Advanced skills? You ain't gonna learn unless you do it and it's better to do it now then this winter when the stripers are running and the water is cold.

I would love to try that some time. I was planning to launch from Little Island for a paddle down to False Cape. I want to see how long it takes and to have a look around before I go camping down there. Might launch from the beach( something I have not tryed yet) Hopefully get some fishing in along the way. Does any one know if the parking lot is open24/7? I want to start as early as possible. Good luck on the Cobia.

Al, I heard the GV and BF rock area was covered up with crab pots, not a good place to take a sleigh ride but then again you are one of those "thrill-seekers" right ?? Be careful if there is a lot of pots out, getting wrapped up in one of those things will be no fun !!

It's gonna be a fun trip for sure!!!! Imagine seeing a couple of Cobia at the back of the Yak in the slick?!?[grin] GOOD STUFF!! Who know's, maybe we'll get a shot at one and have to negotiate around some crab bouys; no worries... (knot)In the future, enthusiasm goes a lot further than pessimism[grin]
See ya bright and early!!!!!!

Fished off Grandview with Redmonn last night and into the morning. No brown suits showed but we got several good sleigh rides for the cownoses and the crab pots were not an issue. I may be going back tonight if anyone is interested. Launch at about 3:00 a.m. and fish until 8:00 a.m. or so. Let me know if you are game. 348-2232. We may even go out to bluefish rock. There was a flotilla of boats out there this morning for the tournament and about fifteen had been boated when we left at 9:00.
