Only in Texas........ just shows they can't hunt like us folks up here ... WHat a Cheesy way to accomplish something.. No wonder PETA exist today.. Even though they are only Hogs get the f out in the woods and killem
The 2 idiots wounded about half of them and there they lay and suffer... I am not tree huger and I hunt just about everyday , but I was taught not to let an animal suffer....

Its shyt like this that will surely piss off some airhead in office enough to start another ANti hunting campaign

I have to agree, this type of controll needs to be stopped.
I hunt every chance I get and I do not call this hunting. I was taught the same, do not let the animal suffer. This is not ethical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next step is they poison them. Slow death. Maybe 2-4 days laying around on the ground kicking ?

Not agreeing with the hunt tactics but something is going to be done.

They are ruining peoples lives that farm. They breed like Rabbits and rats.

I e-mailed this video to my older brother who has some fairly good size farms in Texas.

He did not like the looks of it at all but was aware of it going on. He said most of these kills were donated to food banks. He was also skeptical that all the wounded could be possibly rounded up, put out of misery, etc; due to the large area covered during the hunt on the video.

He did say that as bad as it is, that it was less cruel than the poisoning, trapping that is going on.

He said that people out in the Midwest hate them as much as folks this way may hate Snakeheads taking over. After a while you lose compassion and go for the kill. He said they are TRULY a nightmare to working people.

They have hunts on his farms early morning and late evening. (employees) Shotguns, rifles. They shoot many and load them up and donate.

Bottom line, he said that they are not even putting a dent in the population. They are taking over vast areas and ruining the habitat for humans, domestic animals and wildlife.

They dig the roots of plants completely out of the soil. The crops are shot. Many farms experience a 50-75% loss.

By the way. F peta. I don't bow to those nuts.

Dennis, I feel for anyone that has to deal with the problem of what to do with these critters. Looks like it's a very troubling problem that need's addressing. Seems to me that most of the ranches in TX charge a healthy price to hunt hog's but it would make more sense if they would let hunters hunt hog's for free with a kill fee for all other type animals killed during the hunters stay. They would end up solving some of their hog problems in much faster time frame then they way they are going about doing it now.

I just watched a special on Discovery about the wild hogs. They are a REAL problem in Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana ans Texas. They are becoming a problem in many more states. You can never hunt them under control but something has to be done for sure. They are WAY more destructive than deer and destroying farm after farm. I don't have the answer but hope it can be done humanely................Gary

Same here Gary.

I hunt and fish like I bet 99% of the folks on this board do, for the sport but never forgetting respect for my prey, ever.

I put the post up on this board because I know you folks are Hunters and I wanted to get your thoughts about it. I agree that it is a crazy way to hunt them down.

I also agree with my Brother when he said " Not saying that it is right but it has come down to the point of sheer frustration and hate for these hogs".

Anyway, I guess I will see what happens when I go out there in January for a visit.

I agree will taking control of a population, and having to take some of the numbers out. That is kinda a wild way to do it, but what could they do instead that would kill a bunch like that in a day. The suffering part is no good, i dont think they should have a lay in a field and suffer, but what else could they do that would be better?

Same thoughts here. They are going to get it.

By the the way, given the hits, the guy( shooter) in the Helicopter is a hell of a Marksman.

I was in now way coming down on you for posting this, in fact i'm glad you brought it to our attention..
HOGS are a huge problem , My cuz lives in Florida and tells me the same thing..
I just can't stand to watch a video like that watching the run away after taking a load in the ass end..
several of those hogs were severly wounded and left laying there.. If it was deer hunting from the air like that I think every pro on with shows on tv wouldbeup in arms over it..
Personally I would love to go hunting hogs but in a way called HUNTING ..
Flying around shooting hogs like they were VIETNAM is not the way ..

Don't see a thing wrong with it. They destroy everything they come in contact with including crops. We certainly don't want any wild hogs around here. I don't see why criticizing them for "unethical hunting" would apply here. These guys were not hunting, they were killing. It looked pretty efficient to me.

Simple pest control and a pretty interesting video. The sheer volume is somewhat unsettling to some, but sportsmen do pay big bucks for "volume" duck and dove hunts too. And the shooting appears similarly challenging. C'mon, shooting hogs running flat out, shuckin' and jivin', from a moving vehicle with a rifle? His hit rate was maybe 50%. Of course the difference is these hogs can run but they cannot hide.

I guess really whats the difference between them and deer here on the eastern shore. If i could shoot deer like here i would because they are a huge pest, and im sure the hogs are the same way.

None of us being a farmer in that area, and not having to contend with the hogs. Really dont know for sure, what has or has not been (obviously unsuccessfully) practiced to keep the population numbers in check. Seems, this MAY be the most effective means of doing so. Perhaps, shooting the hogs in this manner really isnt the problem.

Posting it on YouTube is!

I know for a fact, and many dont want to hear, but alot of farmers (not all farmers though) shoot deer in the stomachs under crop management and usually in the spring when they are pregnant. So they kill 2 (or more) with one shot and the deer run off the field to die. This way, the farmer doesnt have a carcass on his/her field to contend with or burn a tag on it either.

Now it goes on, but no one videos it and puts it on the internet.

Thats a very true statement on the crop damage, but its a succesful way of doing, but its also not on youtube.

I am an avid hunter and was disturbed by the video as well. I know that the hogs are pests and must be eradicated to save the farmers livelihood, but I find it hard to believe that they actually find these animals after the "flight" and give them to the hungry...give me a break. Do what you have to do to save your crops, but keep it to yourself.

If they went back and picked up those hogs and used the meat then more power to them. If they wasted those animals that is no good. That is a lot of good eating and there are alot of hungry people in the world.

Man !! I've watched the video six times and got to tell you. I thought it was BAD ASS, those two young guy's were smokn those pigs ( lots of spine shots ) . It sure didn't look like there was any shortage of targets . I'm a hunter a very successful hunter with bow muzzel loader, rifle , and shot gun but I would love to go on a shoot for pigs like that from a chopper!! Get Some!!!! Get Some!!!! Aporkcallypse Now

It's not a hunting video. It's pest eradication. The public can't buy that type of trip. It is supported by the state if Texas and only allowed with the state's permission. The reason they're wearing camo ie b/c it's hunters that were asked to do the shooting. What do you expect them to wear, there polo fleece vests?

It's no different than poisoning rats or shooting gophers. And it is an infinitely more humane way of killing than commercial beef, chicken or pig operations. I can't believ there is a hunting board full of hypocritical, uninformed hunters.

That video is awesome. I say lay down every one of those fat destructive bastards.

The meat is NOT EDIBLE. I went on a Turkey/Hog hunt in Texas last year. You have NEVER seen so many hogs;they are out of control! You can eat them under 100-150lbs after that the meat is not good. There are plenty of other critters to eat the carcass'. If you saw the damage they cause you would understand. They chew up wheat and spit it out EVERYWHERE. It looks like chewing tobaco all over the fields. You shoot a female and she'll have 15-20 little ones with her. Most farmers who would never consider deer or turkey humting on their farms will gladly let you kill all the hogs you want. I had more fun stalking them then Turkey hunting. They are actually VERY AWARE and you have to be on point to get them.
