I just stepped up to the SLR camera. Getting a Canon T1i. What photo editing program do most of you use? Also are there any how to type videos that any of you recommend for shooting with a slr and for the editing?

I'm using Adobe Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS3 (Bridge is a part of CS3). I also have Aperture but mostly use Lightroom for the same purpose as Aperture.

I'd recommend the most current version of Photoshop Elements until you see a need for something more powerful. It a lot of program for the money and will probably do everthing you ever need for photo stuff. It will most certainly handle your needs through your learning curve and for a lot less money. It really is a great program.

You may want to download Picasa from Google. It's free and will do some very basic editing . It's also excellent for organizing the photos on you computer. Basically Picasa will allow you adjust exposure, crop photo and some very basic other features. It's a great place to start since you can use it without a lot of effort learning a more complex software.
Lightroom, Photoshop, etc are much more powerful programs BUT there is a learning curve to really get the full power of these programs. In addition you are talking well over $100 for all but Photoshop Elements . It's around $70 or so.

There's all kinds of tutorials on photo editing on youtube. Just do a google on the name of the software you are considering and then photo editing, retouching or something similar.

Thanks for the help so far. Like I said this is my first SLR camera and am already amazed at the pictures I am taking. I literally have no idea what I am doing and jut kind of figuring it out as I go. This is just something I have wanted to get into for quite a while. Here are a few shots with no editing that I took.

I have been using Photoshop Elements 5 since it was introduced, after staying with Elements 2 for a while I thought the time to upgrade was then. Now Elements is up to 8.
According to Adobe and people I am in touch with Adobe Elements if a fine Photo editor that has most of what non professional's need for photo editing, I am soon considering upgrading to 8

There are a number of programs you can use. I'd try to avoid the urge to use every filter, cute effect on your images -- usually less is more. Send me a b-mail with your e-mail address andI'll send you some pdf files on using photoshop and image touch-up. For slide presentation Producer Pro or Gold is good. Also, ulead has a number of software programs for image processing, video editing.

Good luck. I like your pup.
