I am in the very start of putting together a trip with some of my hunting buddies to Canada. We are looking to do some self guided waterfowl hunting, and are looking for some advice or tips for a great hunting trip. If you want to post here or email me, I would be very appreciative to read about any of your expierences hunting waterfowl in Canada.

Talley- Be sure to register your guns/valuables with the U.S. BEFORE leaving the country. Your then need to register with Canadian customs. IF you fail to do this, they can charge you sales tax on stuff you have "bought while out of the country". I have hunted with Grey Bruce Outfitters in Onterio 2 years in a row and this year Customs gave us a hard time about skipping this step where as last year they didn't even mentioned it. We didn't end up having to pay anything but he warned us that next time we better stop at the US Customs before going to the Canadian customs. ANYTHING with a serial number is suggested to be registered. Why anyone would pay their like 18% sales tax to buy something in Canada I'll never know. Also, be sure when you are processing your birds, you leave a wing attached for ID purposes. So far they haven't checked our coolers coming back to the US, but the rule is 1 wing must be attached. If breasting, remove the breast plate with both breast on it and snip 1 wing off and not the other. Good luck and happy hunting!!
