With Cory’s blessing we are having a Club Tourney. Ok here it is the first of what will be many little tourneys to prep for the big TKAA tourney. This Sunday morning, 6:30 show: 7 a.m. launch, weigh in: 1pm. Get’er done before it’s to hot! Location: Lynnhaven Inlet only. Target fish: Croaker and Croaker only. Largest fish wins! The cost lets say $10. Winnings: 50 percent to the winner and 50 percent to the TKAA. So 5 guys, 50 bucks total, you walk away with 25 dollars. The more fisherman, the larger the pot, the larger the pot the sweeter the prise! No second place, no third place, all that means is first looser, and second looser….lol. Bring the fish to the weigh in (Sorry Cory, know you don’t like that, but is croakers after all) or measure it and trust your fellow club members. We can decide that morning. Don’t have time for the big take the pic and get them film developed thing. If you don’t want the fish, cool I will take it home and eat them….. So what do you say? Let’s fish!

Weather predicted:

Plenty of sun.
Highs in the low 90s and lows in the mid 70s.
Wind: SSE 8 mph
Max. Humidity: 75%
UV Index: 10 Very High
Sunrise: 6:19 AM ET

Tides:

Tides for Lynnhaven Inlet, Highway bridge, east of starting with August 14, 2005.

Su 14 High 3:50 AM
14 Low 10:24 AM
14 High 4:41 PM
14 Low 11:35 PM

Ok, I'm in. What if we catch a croaker wearing a Cobia suit? haha! Sounds like a winner, see you there.

If you catch a cobia in Lynnhaven and get a picture or bring it in and I'll match the croaker tourney payout.

Kcussick, sorry about the time. But tried to schedule it before it got to hot. The next one will either be on a saturday or an evening, or maybe an evening during the week. Going to try and have a couple of small build up tourneys to set up for Corys big one. These are impromptue TKAA money building tourneys. I will try and make it happen for all at one time or another. Sorry if you cant make this one but hopefully then next ones date and time will suit you better.

looks like we have about 11 people signed up so far with 3 more possibles. So at least 55 dollars to the winner if all show up!

Are we going to split for two divisions? Fly and conventional?

No divisions, everybody heads up, put your skills to test against the other techniques.
BEACH- Good idea, but how about we make it one lure or one fly.

I got no problems with one lure...or one fly...I dont swing a flyrod but I'll chunk a small jig around my favorite croaka spots...one lure...3 dupes in case you have a breakoff...

this tourney will not be a one fly one lure. ITs anything you want. we can change for the next one. You fish what you want.

Meeting to be held at Crab Creek launch site on the kayak side. Have to pay $2 for parking. meeting at 6:30 launch at 7 am. Be there and set up and ready to go. If you are not ready to launch at 7 its your lost time but better chances for me.... LOL

Guys, Am I the only person planning to use the long pole?
Darrell, Is the winning croaker determined by weight or lenght?

ASs for the fly rod, I always bring both. I will be using it too

After I gave it more thought, by the weight is not a good idea since everyone doesn't have a hand scale (eg Berkley). So the longest croaker wins.
Later,
UTURN

Here's a question:

Are we restricted to the waters that constitute "Lynnhaven Inlet", or are we just putting in at Lynnhaven and free to go as far as our arms will carry us (and get back by 1300)?

Just starting sh---errr---curious.[grin]Seriously, someone asked & I didn't have an answer.

you can fish anywhere in Lynnhaven. But you are restricted to lynnhaven. You can check in, pay your money and drive and launch anywhere inside Lynnhaven. We each expect each tourney person to be honorable and fish only within the confines of Lynnhaven.

I talked to the guys at Long bay point and tackle today. They recommended weight. Thus the reason I was saying that the fish that you will think will win the tourny should be brought back in to the checkin in at 1 pm. I will have a hand held scale to weight the fish.

Dammit. But OK.

Cool. Recommend that one person do the weighing...or one scale...whatever. See you in the AM.

Rick C. won with a whopping 2 lb 4 oz 17" Croakerilla. There were around 15 boats, and many croakers were caught just none as big as croakerilla.

Congratulations to Rick C.

I also enjoyed fishing in the tourney. It was nice to see yaks all over Lynnhaven, and to meet some of our fellow yakkers. Thanks for putting it on and I'm looking forward to the next one. Wayne
