Boating Safety Course Exemptions

I have become aware from Northern Neck Anglers Club member Frank Brewer that Del. Bill Carrico has taken steps to enact an amendment to the state regulation that requires operators of powered watercraft to attend a boating safety course as it pertains to exemptions for holders of an active USCG operators license. The proposed amendment would include mariners who's USCG license have expired in the class of operators who are exempt from the boating safety course requirement. The logic of this change is that those who have earned a USCG license were required to complete intensive safety training during the pursuit of their licenses. This is a welcome change for those of us who have, for whatever reason, let their licenses expire. We thank Frank for requesting this change and Del. Carrico for his help in getting the change made.
