Wow - this has got to be the worst waterfowl season I've ever had. Carroll Co. geese are nowhere to be found, my creek spot on the Patuxant was duck-less, then froze solid, and my spot on the upper Patuxant hasn't held birds all year. How's it been over on the shore? Has anywhere around here been productive after the big snow?

geese have been difficult for alot of people on the shore as well... they have been very hard to decoy in the fields most days... we have had better luck over water...we had a grand field shoot on friday, right after the snow put a nice 1-2" coating on everything and it was still dark clouds, birds flew from 10:30 on... Even then, we had a few bunches in which we let the "candy" bird actually land and the balance of the group took at least one more pass to commit.. The biologist predicted that there would be few young ones in this fall's flight, and I believe the goose hunting action has refelcted it....
As for ducks, it has been steady, with the ice concentrating them a little more yielding a little more action

I've had a terrible year on the Pax but have had a decent year in Dorchester County for ducks - that is when the boat ramp isn't frozen. I'm not a goose hunter but might start after going on my first goose hunt last weekend and had a blast. Killed my limit and roasted them up last night - stuffed with apple walnut stuffing - good eatin.

It has been hit and miss on public waters in Tidewater Va. I have managed to kill 12 mallards and 3 blacks this season, along with a number of bufflehead.

We had a great December around Richmond... "Speaking for myself".. Plenty of mallards, blacks, and geese. The cold fronts came through and pushed all the birds we were seeing. Hoping for some birds to move in before the end of the month. I talked to some friends in Southeastern Virginia and they said they were seeing plenty of birds. Hope your season gets better.
Geese have been kinda tricky this season, had some good shoots and some skunks. Worst late duck season I've had in awhile

Everything I hunt was flodded out, then frozen and flooded out, now just frozen. Hopefully we get a little thaw this week and can squeeze out a couple of hunts.

Harford County has been skunked out since the big blow before Christmas. Prior to that it was shaping up as a great season but since late December the birds are just gone. Normally, even decoy resistant birds have been visibly flying even if they would not decoy but there are no birds to be seen in the northern reaches. No ducks, no geese. Hope a few fly in with the warm front.

I'm around Annapolis and we slayed mallards in early season, then struck out mallards after the ponds froze, then scored geese after the blizzard. The fields on the farm I hunt were just harvested of soy right before the blizzard, so fields are full of food. We didn't have too much trouble calling in a limit of geese.
Also there are about 1000 blackheads and canvasbacks in the cove off my farm.

Did pretty good on ducks around Xmas but now the way upper bay where I usually hunt (Cecil) is frozen solid. Geese moved down to Kent, QA, and Talbot. Not as many ducks as expected even before the freeze. Hope to get a little thaw before its over and get a few more quackers.

Hunted wye island yesterday, 8 geese, 8 mallards out of a field pit. Would have done better on the ducks if we were set up with more of a field duck spread. Been shooting a few birds on my shoreline on the South River, but the freeze pushed most of them out. Alot of my friends who goose hunt from centreville to chestertown have had a tough year. Brids are there, just not doing it.

My season hasnt been worth a s***. Hunting down near bushwood and the geese just do not want to decoy, we were hunting the fields but this weekend were going to move over to the pond since it won't be frozen. Hopefully it will bring us some luck, my dad has gone out duckin' a few times and done okay. 3 weeks to go and i guess we will see

I didn't get out till the third split. Haven't caught the best weather. Birds seem very decoy shy in the HMI area. Then it froze up. Sheesh! Lets see if I can finish strong. Doesn't take much to make me happy; some shooting and bird or two now and then.

There had to have been no less than 5000 bluebills underneath the bay bridge this afternoon. I was coming home about 1:30 this afternoon, heading across the west bound span, I look down and the water was blanketed with bills for at least a quarter of the way across the bridge, unbelieveable.
