Suggestions for a spring break trip for my daughter and I would be appreciated. Something rustic but clean where we could dive, maybe fish, zipline, whatever else. We're looking at Florida Gulf and East Coasts, Keys, Cozumel and Cancun areas, but all suggestions are welcome. Need a most bang for the buck beach and sun kind of thing. Personal experience is preferred.
For Florida, thinking of taking the car on a train and going from there, so airport access would not be an issue for Florida. Ft. Meyers, Punta Gorda, Sanibel Island area experience, anyone?

Look into Costa Rica - Hermosa/ CoCo beach area. Often there are decent deals. Fly into Liberia - only 20 minutes to the beach.
About 4 years ago - lot of hotels were built - then tourism slowed. They will deal to get you there.
Lots to do - nature wise.
Witchs Rock zip line is awesome.
Diving is good - viz. is OK - 25 to 50 feet but lots of big critters and schools of fish.
You need a passport.

Thanks for the heads up, Skip. I had forgotten the area in CR you had recommended when we were fishing some time ago. That's exactly what I'm looking for. I found several good deals right in line with what I need...except for airfare in April. That's the high season. I might have to rethink the timing but your location suggestions are spot on. Insights on airfare are welcome. Travelocity, CheapCarribean, Orbitz, etc. have been checked. April seems tough for air. Do you have experience with La Puerta Del Sol? Specific resort or hotel recommendations are welcome. Bmail is good if you prefer that. Thanks again.

Villa Del Sol in Hermosa is nice. That one is often offered in the package deals.
We have not been there since 2007 - at that time there were 3-4 new hotels being built in that area. Some heavy hitters like Hilton were also building.
We did luck into staying at Ocatol - awesome $$$$ hotel right on a cliff. They were almost empty and gave us a matching price.
Good dive shop right at the bottom of the hill.
Deals do pop up - often at last week or so. From what I've heard - tourism there ( like everywhere ) is way down so do not be afraid to bargain hard.
