My buddy Dave and I are headed to Duck, NC this Labor Day weekend for a few days of hard core fishing. No wives, kids, dogs and cats....

We plan on surf fishing mostly, but will be taking our kayaks (OT Loons). Anyone have recommendations on where to paddle for a few light tackle and fly opportunities? I heard Manns Harbor was good. ? OI on good days? Any links for fishing reports down that way?

Thanks folks!

Harry

Try the sound (speckled trout) at Pea Island or just north of Buxton. B-mail if you want details.

Launching at Bodie Island is going to require a cart...its a ways to the launch. You can launch at the propeller @ Oregon Inlet and head back that way, too. Then you get to fish the whole channel from there. Might also try launching over at Manns Harbor bridge, New Inlet and further south of OI on the backside in the Dredge Slough just north of Avon. There are a bunch of launch locations for the area on Kayak Fishing Stuff. Good luck!

Do you need a license to fish their all my fishing has been ocean side in the outer banks.

No saltwater license here yet but there is a freshwater one.
