I'm just getting into kayak fishing, and am looking for recommendations on a good holder for fly rods. Also for anchoring systems. Thanks!

Scotty Fly rod holder is the best.

I use the Scotty Spin/Cast Holder. It works just fine for all my fly rods. The reel sits in the holder straight up instead of laying over. Now I do have a "fighting butt (extension)" on my rod. If yours does not, it is not to expensive to have one put on, providing the reel seat will accommodate it. If you're in Tidewater area and need a butt installed, call Wayne Fowlkes 481-4107.

I have a Ram and it holds all rod and reels. I hear the new ones are even better.

Thanks for the advice. Cory, we met some years ago at an American Fisheries Society meeting in Virginia Beach. I enjoy seeing your posts. Uturn, I think we met shad fishing the James at Richmond this spring. We emailed a bit and then I got too busy to take you up on your offer to try your kayaks, but appreciate your generosity. Now that I've got a kayak (Mainstream Kingfish - all I could afford at this time) maybe will get to see you guys on the water. Bob

Did you go to the national AFS meeting in Baltimore? I was there.

Naked goby, nope didn't make the Baltimore trip. You an AFS member? I've been for many years but don't get to many of the meetings anymore. Uturn - thought I recognized your handle! Thanks for the invite, but did my fishing today at Windmill Pt in the gas hog you met me in. Couldn't reisist the temptation to get out before the weekend madness and try for those yummy Spanish. Got one 20" trolling, but pretty boring and expensive. Will definitely be getting in touch in the future.
