Planning a trip to Hawks Cay this April with the wife. Anybody been there before and could provide some insight as to how things are there. Thinking about booking a 4 hour live bait tarpon trip as well if the tarpon are around. Never been to this area before and just looking for some advise about things to do and see while I am there. Thanks.

very nice place pricy but very nice, I worked on Duck Key right next door to Hawks Cay and did spend 3 nights there once ( won it in a raffle) check Buddy La Pointe 305-743-2871 www.fishin-buddy.com at Duck Key Marina for your tarpon he is a great guide and works like a dog for his clients and he gets fish!...take a look at White Sands ( see sticky) I really liked that place and run by great people...not grandios...but nice and down the road about 5 min from duck key/hawks cay
try the biplane ride out over the reeef...cool trip like $110 for two passengers

I fished with Saltwater Experience charters there a few times already (www.saltwaterexperience.com). Capt. Scott Meyer, 1-903-780-6575, was excellent. We booked a couple of trips with them for Tarpon, and Sharks. They are based in the Hawks Cay Marina. I had my 3 kids along and they had a great time catching the sharks in the shallows. My 5 yr old was able to catch a 50lb bull shark all by himself and my 11 year has gotten to the point that "if it is under 200lbs it is a waste of his time". We stayed at Hawks Cay and it was pricey but was convient to the marina and the kids had plenty to do. We also did an offshore trip on the Tailwalker and Capt Scott Walker was excellent as well. The Resteraunts at the resort are not very good but they are the only thing close by. I had been down there for the past 2 years and was just thinking about booking another trip for this year as well. Other than the Restaurants I would recommend it.
