You should enter some of the SRRKC tournaments. We have several through out the year. There isn't a kayak category but I think we have an advantage in some of the tournaments such as the perch and pickerel tournament. However, doing CPR (catch, photo and release) with the pickerel in the kayak is more of a challenge compared to CPR in a boat.

thanks Rod, joined MSSA at the fishing show yesterday, they didn't have a kayak category in there events. SRRKC sound like fun let me know when they are having an event, 80% of my fishing is on the severn. going to the VA shore for flounder season this year if anyone is interested let me know.

wow 9 months before a tourney, thats a very long time. love fishing VA beach area but don't get down there often having linited vacation time. it seems hard to get 4 or 5 guys together up here to fish together at one time let alone put a turnament together. did have a get together last summer at sandy point for self rescue practice, that was a lot of fun.

OK so start your own local kayak angler's association. . . MKAA.. . .or some such . . . You don't need a vacation. . . leave MD on Friday Afternoon return Sunday afternoon. . . meet some single like minded guys and exchange "couches" or find a cheap motel.

Here is the link

to the SRRKC tourney calendar schedule. I usually fish the month long (pickerel, perch and Rocktober fest) tournaments and the one day tourneys with the weigh-in location in Weems Creek. In the past we would get a group of kayakers (Team Yak Attack) together and take on the stinkpots in the one day tourney's. We do have the advantage to spread out and swap notes via walkie talkie or VHF radio. I'm in the pickerel tourney right now which already started, I will give you a holler before our next tournament starts.
