It would make sense considering its one of the big sources of phosphorus and nitrogen going into the water through lawn runoff. I'm not talking about farms but just on the residential front... is having a nuclear green lawn that important?
All the talk of upping the tax on beer and liquor sales got me thinking of things that might actually be of interest in limiting.
Anyone think this is a good idea?

But wouldn't that interfere with the free market?
My gosh, just imagine what would happen if we had to pay the true "cost" of our purchases. Chicken would cost, what, 5 cents per pound more? Gasoline would cost an extra dollar per gallon. Omega 3 oil would be $500 per gallon. That's not American. Are you a Commie (not a trayt) or something? Please confine your radical posts to the BS board. Oh, that's right, just keep posting here, no one will ever see it.
I think it's a great idea. They should also add a surtax on anyone who has and uses lawn sprinklers. Ridiculous, waste fresh drinking water on grass so you can turn around and waste gas to keep it mowed.

All you have to do is go to a Lowes or Home Depot in the spring and see the fertilizer and weed killier stacked up to the ceiling, then picture how much of this is getting into the bay, not to mention how much oil goes into its manufacture and distribution.

Like others, I not only am fine with taxing it, I hope it happens. Ideally, of course, the revenue would be dedicated to stormwater or wastewater upgrades, but even if it's not, at least the tax would discourage the current gross overuse of the stuff.
