James Report 1/15

Fished all day yesterday. Bait thick and no issue. Caught 6 fish 72 lb 12oz biggest then a 53lb 6oz, 52 lb 14 oz, and a 49 lb 12 oz. The others in the low 30's. They were biting better for some than others. Talked to some who zeroed and then some that caught over 20 big fish. Water temp 35-37

we forgot the camera. we drive up to richmond from buggs island lake and usually a few of us meet there with our boats. we were lucky enough to be able to call up one of our buddies and they brought their camera for a pic of the big fish. The others we just let go back on their merry little ways to eat more gizzard shad and get bigger without pics. We rarely take pics anyway but the 72 lb was the biggest we had ever caught so it was picture worthy and we got them to come on over and get a quick pic before letting it go. I have a huge livewell for keeping big cats in for the tournaments we fish and he definately filled it up. I dont know if it would hold a state record or not. I have now had an almost 73 lb blue cat in it and have had 3 flatheads in the 40-50 lb range in it at one time and it held them all but i dont know if it would hold the state record or not. that big blue liked to filled it up width and girth wise. might have to figure something else out. but the point is the big fish swam off splashing water as it went!

Congratulations,,,,,I was one of the fishless guys. Day before, I flat wore them out, yesterday two dinks. Glad you got on them.

glad the waters warming up. broke ice last friday to set the net. what a nitemare! highest temp water was 34 degrees & i checked about 10 miles of the james. pretty day though. fine job on the 70 +.

You had a great day. I was thinking bout making the trip down sometime soon. How deep were you fishing?

30-70 foot most of the day but then caught one in the last spot in 15 ft. Caught fish about everywhere we stopped pretty much.
the bite has been good there for the last month. I think now would definately be the time to make the trip.
