Funny how some people get so jealous about what other people do. They will go to any length to lower you to their level. I have been selling trips on ebay. Its working for me. The proofs in the pudding I don't claim to be the best. We know I'm not but I can hold my own against most others..... Now I guess someone is gonna want to bet some money and try and back me down. THERE IS ONLY ONE MAN'S MONEY I WANT. I already tried to bet the man who is running his mouth the most and guess what, he hasn't texted me in 3 days. I wanted to put up 500. He wants to do 15,000. I mean come on. I don't want anyone to have to put up everything that they own, and still have to borrow money just to have to fish against me. Don't get me wrong I don't have that kinda cash either. I'm just trying to say jealous people will go do anything so watch out for the PhatCat.

We know your just startn off guiding and word of mouth is a great way to spread the word.You shoulda and coulda done the guiding along time ago.You just as good as most out there. Good luck in this years Big Cat Quest Wayne, don't think I will be fishing any more tournaments you are involved in. After moving 3 different times in the last tournament and having the same boat (you) anchor up within 100yds the first time(that entire area isn't 100 yds across, thats why we asked permission to move cause the captain of that boat (you) was too close to begin with), achoring up150 ydsdown from us the second time we moved, and the third time...........?, well that says enough!!

Glad I only fish for fun! I am guilty of poaching on all the guides' spots from Presquille to Ancarrow but only when no one is on them. If I see you fishing a spot, bet money that I will take a look see with my Sonar later. You can't miss my boat. I am the only Maroon and Silver Lund on the river,,maybe the only Lund period.

who is fatboy3. I have no clue who you are... I know I fished near hugh in that one spot. I could have passed Capt. Hugh on the way back but I didn't. I wanted to respect him by not passing him and seeing if he was gonna go to the point or the sprays. I was gonna take what was left over. I think I was aleast 100yrds away in the first spot. The last time I saw yall I was 200yrds away. We are fishing totaly different things. Everyone knows that when you fish the warm water and the barge pit you will see each other from time to time.

Fatboy3 ask Capt. Hugh about this day I am about to bring up. We were fishing a tourny about 5 years ago. We both were running to the warm water and I was in front. The water was so low that Hugh got stuck on the polls at the walk bridge. I went on up to fish the point. After a 20 mins or so he came in to fish the sprays while I was fishing the point. Same deal. All you have to do is ask him. You said the second spot I was 150 yrds down from you BULL SHHT. I was out of site half mile or better. I think whoever you are, you need to get your fact in order. All of this from a man(if I am right on who you are) fishes off someone elses coat tail. I think the closest I may have come was the last spot of the day. I love to fish right there and maybe I was a little close, but whats that between friends. You just need to take getting beat like a man. Buy your own boat. And try and find some spots of your own.
I must apologise to Capt. Hugh. I am sorry for lying about the size of my fish. If I want to keep it quiet I wont say a word next time. I will bring in what I bring in. See ya at the next tourny Fatboy3. Oh yeah thats right you wont be there.

this is a public river, the thing about all the hoopla is that we have guys who have been fishing this river for 20 years putting in long periods of time,absolute dedication and a hell of a lot of money, people who are actually respected then you see a wave of guys come in to the sport who know NOTHING but to follow those around that they have heard or seen catching big fish.these people are not fisherman and sure as hell are not respected.i am proud to say i come up with the best fisherman to ever fish the james,willy ernest-jimmy weir-frank brassard-hugh self-pete logan and a few others all of which were excellent true fisherman. all of these guys including myself have accomplished great things in catfishing and not one damn bit of it came from stabbing someone in the back ,following people around or adding 10 years to our resume to look like someone were not.

i also want to say if you take a good look into the past the good lord has blessed the honest people with the honor of holding the state record on our river, so all of you who feel like you need to follow others around to become famous shit go for it you may catch a nice one here or there but you will never be respected and you will never be a true fisherman.

I agree. This crap on this board got me pissed off 4 years ago with people that think they know it all. Its happening again with people that just got started doing this!!!!! There are not 1 but 2 recent guides that are doing it all wrong. I will say that Wayne is doing it better than the other. Wayne , good for you on finding your own holes, the other guide who claims he is a true tournament champion, you stole every hole you got from Wiley, Dean, Chris, John, Petie, Kevin. It looks like no happy joy joy on the James. Being a MD guide with tons of paperwork and licenses needed each year what is required for a guide on the James?
mil in liablility insurance?
Coast Guard 6 pak?
Guide license from the state?
Drug testing?
CPR and two types of first aid?

Not looking to relocate but just wondering?

I will stay here on the Potomac till they the netters and sprawl kills the river.

Hey wayne, Your right!! For the past year and a half I have been riding the coattails of one of the nicest and most respected guides on the James, Captain Hugh Self. Three weekends a month I drive down from Baltimore to fish with and first mate for Cap Hugh. In that year and a half I have never taken a dime from Captain Hugh, he has offered, but I have refused. What I have I have accepted from Capt Hugh is an incredible amount of knowledge of the James, the targeting of trophy Blue Catfish, and a friendship with Captain Hugh that will always be there.I also get the use of the boat Sun morningswhen Hugh is at church.I think we should all go this Sunday!!! I could buy a boat, but like you, I have a great job through the week, and most weekends Capt Hugh has trips, which means I would be working for him, not fishing in my own boat. A boat wouldn't be a real good investment for me. I do have my own holes on the James, my 84, and 78 came from two of them. And while I am getting my facts straight, it was said you took 3 hours out your fishing time during a tournament to help a stranded pleasure boater, but you left Capt Hugh hung up on some stumps?! Anyway wayne, this has gone on long enough, man up and answer your phone or return my call.( and yes, fatboy3 is Jason, thought everyone knew that, jcat61 on other sites)

Wayne, I'am ready any time to put up money for a fish off for you. Wayne showed me the in's and out's of fishing the James. He is a class act. He was shown the ropes by some of the good guys. I fished up there a couple of years ago in my boat and ask him about bait he gave me some pointers ans even told another guide I would be there and to look out for me. Mike O found me and hooked me up with bait. I now have sold my boat and fish from a kayak and am looking forward to fishing up there with it. Down east by the bay we all fish together. Wayne is an great fisherman with all the right morals you want. Who every this fatcat guy is get off his a##. W e should all support the great fishing up there plenty for every one. Wayne need to get up there for some pullage!

ya know guys it's suppose to be about fishing, it's a great thing to have new people come in to the sport of catfishing because it helps our community in many ways-to many to name. i think i may have been misunderstood by some when i posted last week. the ones i was talking about know who they are and was not speaking of newcomers in general. everyone at some point has checked out a spot they have seen someone sitting on. i personnally love to continue to always search and mark new stuff and stay away from other people, we have a great thing going on here on the james river, if someone wants to shadow me all the time i wont like it but at the same time at least someone is thinking of me. theres plenty of big fish out there and will continue as long as the ones who love the sport keep putting them back-nightstalker

Archie, I go after cats with the 2lb rods. I have landed a 21 and a 28.8 on them. Its a blast and puts a little sport back into it. If you ever want to try it I will show you a little of what I have learned about this kind of fishing.It doesn't look like I will be fishing this weekend. Will you be at the tounry on the 13th?
