Dang, I am sorry I missed last night's C & R meeting... just couldn't break away from the computer early enough. I don't see any posts from those who attended yet - what happened, guys???

Just a few turned out and all but one seemed to be very supportive of C&R. I spoke out against the rod restrictions while trolling

As bad as I am with names/faces - I knew almost everyone in the room.
Guess about 12 altogether.

The DNR logic will give you a real headache. If I heard one more " unknown " to a question - I was going to leave.

IMHO - all boils down to politics - dirty at that.

DNR claims the idea is to conserve roe ladden Rock.
Well, I'll go out on a limb but here is my prediction.
The cold winter of 2009/2010 will mean many more Rock full of roe caught and killed opening week. The colder bay water temps. most likely will slow the spawning run down.

There are few 100% in fishing - it is 100% that a roe ladden Rock killed opening week will not spawn. Want to really conserve roe ladden Rock ?
Back off killing them by a week in April. The 3rd Saturday is early - plus cold water temps. - a lot of roe ladden Rock will die.

Oh yeah , it's all about conservation.

Perhaps everyone who CLAIMS to be for conservation should wait until May 1st to begin fishing. Just because the DNR says the Season is open doesn't mean that you HAVE to go fishing! Stay home -save fish. Don't let peer pressure force you onto the water.

Or if you fish, you can release your catch which is what I plan on doing if I get the opportunity to fish from the third Saturday in April until the second Saturday in May.

I agree that the season is too early! But then again fellas I was catching hogs full of roe in the middle of may.
