Looks good to me. I'm just glad your the one skinnin' that hog not me. I skinned one once. I scrape 'em now.
Still eatin' from last Sunday. It's about gone now. Sorry ya'll missed it. The rain let up about 1300 and we had plenty fun. Everbody ate pork and I ate oysters. crabsoup, and fish they brought.
The thing I like about these boy's around here "If it walks, crawls, or swims, they got a recipie for it".
Glad ya'll had a good time. I'll be seeing you in the spring if not sooner

Cool. I asked the guy who runs the show for us in Surry, VA. about getting one. He was saying something about having to boil the whole thing and then scrape the hair off it. I decided I wasn't up to a job like that. You just skinned that one like a deer. Right?

Any difference from a deer?

It's different from a work standpoint. Skinnin a hog is work. Scrapin I like better but only if your doing a lot of them. Scraping involves a trough to boil water, a fire, scrapin table. scrapin tools...
Skinnin as hard as it is is better if your only doing one. The Skin don't come off like a deer. You have to cut it most of the way. We always cut it in strips about 4" wide with a razor utility knife and it takes time and effort.
If your just wanting one for the freezer you'd be better buying one and taking it to the slaughter house and letting them do it. I know they have plenty in Surry. If your wanting one for a pig roast you can get whole ones already dressed at most meat markets or meat suppliers. Surry is hog central so if you ask around a little you'll be able to get local info. There's plenty of folks there that raise hogs and they love to sell to indiviual consumers

One monkey left! Being an "Archie" fan has made me a "Peyton and Ely" fan. Kind of like that song "torn between two lovers".
I'm still going with the "homeboys" though good or bad. Them good people stuck with me in '84 so I'm stickin' with them.
