Fishing the JRB after work Tues evening

Mac McCormick and Dennis Lane launched from Huntington Beach Oct. 19th (after work) looking for striped bass. Mac got there ahead of Dennis and caught four baby spot on snails. First spot nailed this big rockfish. Two spot died or came off before they caught anything with them. The last one caught a really big oyster toad. When the sun went down the water was glass calm and the tide was still. The rockfish didn't feed in the lights so Dennis and Mac left at 7:30pm.


Dennis caught this rockfish (the only one caught) at the JRB Oct. 19th on live spot.

nice fish, i do not fish from a kayak but do from a small boat. good job. how big was the fish?

Nice going guys.Wanna be yak fisherman to old with a bum back and hip . Fish from a boat. CC.
Been wondering if the rock were at the JRB.If I c ya all out there i'll wave to ya and slow down .Keep paddling!

It was about 32" - don't know for sure, didn't measure it. It swam away a happy fish!!
