Brandon,
Sorry for not saying..Friday after work..important detail i totally left out. Anyhow, GREAT!!!!At one point when I fisrt put in the water the Coast Guard was putting in..didn't even check me..had some nice comments and I even asked all 5 guys if they knew how to check a YAK. ONE said Yeah, and looked at another guy, still no check..Asked how I was doing, caught anything..I said yeah a 15incher, I smiled and ended with..I put it back! Actually, I would love to have their job or had became a Game Warden.
Anyway, tried my honey hole..nothing! I did look to the depth finder just to see how deep action was and it was 26ft. After giving up, went to my other honey hole and they hit it ever time. I used lime green grub wth white head and red eyes, then white grub with red head/white eyes then used a red tail with off white body and red head ..they loved it all. One point i looked at depth finder and had straight "7's" going across..thought i was in Vegas and all I need to do is pull the handle! Then action stopped!
Stupid thing i did...left fish to find bigger fish to take to my dad for Halloween cook out party. Went back to deep part...nothing! Came back to better spot..Nothing now. Getting dark, turned on the light waited for high tide and moved into shallow part, waiting for them to feed..GOT SO COLD, watched the birds..they got up and hit a pigeon. I thought the thing was taking a bath...no they broke its wing. I paddled to the bird. picked it up, put him in the boat, went to the dock, kids wondering what they heck is a girl doing in that yak, I PULLED A PIGEON OUT OF IT. That was so funny..
I will go back on Sunday morning bright and early as the boyfriend gets Saturday morning in Mathews on the big boat. Taking turns for babysitting and striper season.

What species are you catching and are you fishing the Mattaponi ?Also is the ramp where you launch on the West Point side of the river? I may head over that way around 9 AM. I'll be coming from I64.
