Okay folks Saturday Feb 6th at 10 am I will host a lead pouring party at my house. I will probably be in and around the garage most of the morning so if anyone wants to arrive a few minutes early it is not a problem. We will use the 13th as the "inclemement weather" date. I have a propane burner and a cast iron pot. I also have a electric pot that is great for the smaller molds. If you have some thing you want to bring to pour with please bring it as the more we have the better it will be. Post up what molds you plan on bringing so we can plan accordingly.

I have the following molds.

egg sinker mold that goes from 1/8th to 3 ounces.
5 and 6 ounce pyramid sinker
1/2 ounce round ball jig head
bank sinkers from 1/2 to 5 ounces
spro type head that is 1 to 3 ounce I think. Not sure but I know it pours 1.5 and 2 oz.
popeye bucktail mold 1/4 to like 1 oz I think.
I will also get a 20oz to 32 oz inline sinker mold and a cannon ball mold that is about the same.
I have a few inglet molds as well.

I only have lead. Is there anything I need to bring other than that? Extra gas or whatnot?

I will see if I can make it. I have a production pot, a 1/4 oz pop eye bucktail mold, a horse head mold. and a 2 oz to about 5 oz bank sinker mold. Even if I don't show up Brian, Byrd, etc. are welcome to come over and get my molds, etc. for the event.

One thing that folks should consider is chipping in for some bent shaft hooks and buying them in advance. Furthermore the horse head lures require a swivel. Bishops carries all the stuff. I will try to look this weekend and post what types work for the molds that I have.

Oh also I have power paint, and an oven to set it in.

One more tidbit. I have a way to make floating bucktails that I can demonstrate and help folks make. I use hot glue, red for the eyes and clear hot glue for the body. Oh and I can give bucktail tying lessons to boot. I can bring my tying table.

Hopefully I can make it.

Not sure I have room for lead pouring and tying. May be best to just stick to the lead this time.

Actually the tying I was looking at was more of one-on-one lessons rather than 10 folks sitting around tying while others are pouring. I did this several years ago at Al Bs with a lot of success. Assuming that I can break away and show up I will bring the tray and leave it in my truck which will allow us to figure out the space issues, etc. on the fly. All it really takes is space for one lawn chair. The tray will fit across the arms of the chair.

Even if I can't make it you are welcome to use my production pot and molds. How about B-mailing your address? I can find your place from there.

Based my experience at Al Bs pouring party several years ago you might want to organize (in advance) the purchase of hooks for the molds that show up. I just looked I must have borrowed my horse head mold from Jeff Dail . . I have a 3/8 pop eye bucktail mold that uses 7/0 hooks Mustad 91715 or 91750ST. My bank sinker mold is 2 oz to 5 oz.

I have molds for 10 and 16 oz bank sinkers if you don't mind a non member coming. Heck maybe I'll join the club while there I have visited a few times just never joined because I am in Richmond and can't make it to all the meetings. Have more molds but sounds like y'all have those covered. Jimmie

Beancounter,
Better to bring everything than to show up and wish you had. Besides sometimes it is good to pour with two molds if lots of people want a particular item. Hope to see you there.

I am reading this right now and would also like the address and info. I will have to run this by Kevin first and see if we can make it (have to check our work schedule). I have lead and at least 2 if not 3 pair of gloves. Byrd please bmail me the address. I will have to look around here and see if we have anything else to add to the mix. Also if you are planning on pouring teardrop sinkers we will probably need to make sure someone brings swivels. thanks Beth

Things are looking decent enough for Saturday. For those of you bringing molds, post up what size swivels and hooks are required so people will know what to bring. I will have several size 2 barrel swivels and some hooks for my 1.5-2 oz jig molds. Should have plenty of lead being brought from what I've been told. For those that do not have molds or lead and want to come, come on. Just bring some chips, pepsi's, or a couple bucks to give to the folks that bought swivels and hooks. I'm sure some fishing tips will be discussed or how to rig for various species will be talked about as well. If any one has a rod tip that is broken or that needs to be replaced bring it and I will fix it for a nominal fee. I'm looking forward to Saturday, its been awhile since I've done one and starting to get like a kid in the candy store!

I have shad head jig molds that take Mustad 635 in size 4/0 for 1/2oz and 3/4oz and size 2/0 and 3/0 for 1/4oz to 1/2oz. I have popeye bucktail mold from 1/4 to 1oz that can take up to a 8/0 635 hook (specially cut). I have in line sinkers 1-3oz that take small size one brass eyes and a mold for 4-6-8-10-12oz in lines that take size two brass eyes. I have a mold for 1.5 and 2oz "stingsilvers" that take a wire insert that I will bring and, if folks want any, can donate towards replacing later.
