Float tubes in the back bays?

I live in Erie, Pa and use a float tube in our bay and Lake Erie. But I try to make it to the Cape May area at least once a year. I have done the charter fishing and wade fishing while there. I have never seen anyone using a float tube, is that because of the kayak being popular or some other reason. Thanks Tim
