Fished the Patapsco today with HJS. We each managed 1 18" striper.

Mike,
That's the Hobie Sport in the pic. I probably won't get the Hobie Adventure until March/April. I don't want to get it now, rig it up and then have to stare at the my sweet new ride all winter while the river is frozen. That would drive me crazy[excited]! As long as the river isn't frozen the Sport should be able to get me to a few winter fishing spots. Let me know if you need help rigging up the new fish finder. Did you go with the Matrix 17 or a different model?

Rod,
Congrats on getting out and catching....
I've got 2 slightly OT questions...
Do you guys usually get into any special safety items when the h20 temps dip ?? wetsuits , etc ???
BTW.....what to you power your DF with ??
Also....I got no where fast searching for the paddles and trying lengths the other day...I'm going to try and hit spring river this week....
Thanks for all of your help !!!

Steve,
I wear a drytop, pfd and waders when water temps are below 60 degrees. Underneath I wear mysterioso top and bottoms and fleece pants. I probably will get a full one piece drysuit sometime soon to give me even more peace of mind when on the ice cold water. Here is a good article on what to wear.

I power my DF with 5amp 12 volt battery.
Here is the battery and charger.

You can get the 5amp rechargeble battery by itself without charger at the BatteryMart in Glen Burnie for $22.

for a 12 volt charger, you can check all of your plug -in-the wall chargers to see if one is 12 volts on the output side . they come with radios, phones, lights and a lot of other household stuff. I found one that put-out 500 ma which I use to keep my BATTERY MART 12V charged. Used it for over a year now. check the voltage and polarity with a meter before hooking to the battery and mark them.
