Bad news fellas. That beautiful black lab that is the daddy of 29 Chesadors mostly on this site needs some prayers. He stopped eating and began throwing up 3 days ago. The vet can't see anything direct on the x-ray but he is in bad shape. We opted to do surgery. As I type this my vet bill sits at 2000.00+ and I don't know any definitive answers. Hug that pup you have and keep his or her tail away from anything they can eat and swallow. It is not a good thing to be going through....

My prayers are with you and your dog. I too have a lab and this summer she got in my barn and ate two trays of rat poison. A big vet bill. She just ate a couple of fire starters but is OK. These damn dogs will eat ANYTHING so you got to be REAL careful of what is laying around. I hope your dog makes it through...........Gary

I all ways carry rubbing alcohol with me when the dog is around. I give mine about half a cup if he gets into something he shouldn't it makes him throw up and I dont have to worry about it. It is perfectly safe to to. Just a heads up to all.

The dog I lost before I first spoke with you last year was done in by chicken bones. Skippy's doing great, but she will try to eat just about anything. Hope dad pulls through.

You should not use rubbing alcohol. You should use hydrogen peroxide. My lab ate rat poison and the poison control center told me to give her 1/2 cup. Labs will eat ANYTHING so you have to be so careful of what's laying around. Rawhide chew sticks are real bad for them..........Gary

x2 on the hydrogen peroxide. My sister is a vet, and instructed me to use Hydrogen Peroxide when my last dog ate a 2lb bag of choclate chips. After giving him the peroxide he vomited it up on the living room floor. Dog survived, carpet did not.
Best wishes to the black lab!

you can always give the posion control center a call as well as vomitting with some things esp a caustic can cause more damage
AWESOME TO HEAR HE IS RECOVERING

When you call the poison hotline for animals, you MUST make a donation, I think $25.00. They are not funded by anything else. I would imagine the regular Mr. Yuk hotline would serve the same purpose and it's free.........Gary
