Which would you prefer and why?

I am partial to 3 or 5 as I am most interested in flounder fishing after the spring trophy season and want to see the season go as far into the fall as possible (until the big stripers return). However 19" Flounder can be a tougher find some days, especially for inshore fishing. I probably would lean towards number 5 personally as I would like the maximum access and opportunity. However I am sure the 19" min may be tough on the boat rentals and head boats. Option 3 would be my second choice with Option 4 as my last choice.

I agree, 3 or 5. For the same reasons you've stated.

I would like to see the season open at least through the end of October. Fall flounder fishing is great! I would personally prefer option 5 as it provides the longest season. I dont think the 19" minimum would be as hard on the headboat/rental business as having the season closed for a month and a half into the season. In my experience you have a better throwback to keeper ratio in the spring anyway reguardless of the size limit. Yes, it will be tougher to find 19" fish in July and August, but it would be that way whether the size limit was 18.5" or 19".

I agree that fall flounder fishing is the best. Besides, in the spring we have migratory rockfish to catch. Come Sept and Oct, Flounder is the best game around.

I read on the Coastal Fisherman site that it is 3 fish--18 1/2''--april 24---sept 24. I was hoping for a larger fish and longer season. I mash up some REALLY big fish in Oct and Nov.

I was at the SFAC meeting last night and Tom O'Connell said their was an uproar about their initial decision. He brought it to the committee and they supported DNRs desires to change to option 5.

MD DNR LISTENS TO ANGLERS AND ALTERS 2010 FLOUNDER REGULATIONS

March 23 - At a time when it seems like nobody in government is listening to those they represent, hats off to Maryland DNR Fisheries Director Tom O'Connell and his staff for hearing the cries of local anglers who desired a longer flounder season in 2010. Enough can't be said for Tom taking the time out to come to Ocean City and hear, first hand, the request from the local fishing community for a fall flounder season. From what I have been told, Mr. O'Connell is the first MD Fisheries Director to ever do so.

Today, the MD DNR announced that flounder will have a 19-inch minimum size with anglers allowed to keep 3 fish per person, per day. Also, the season is stretched from April 17th to November 22nd, giving Maryland anglers over 2 more months of flounder fishing than they had in 2009.
