G uys, need your advice on purchasing a reasonable auto loader--- I,ve looked @ Rem 11-87 in 3/12 in but don,t really want to spend $700.00 for a gun I,ll use 3 or 4 times.I,ve hit the pawn shops and other sources but see a lot of "well used" 1100,s for $400,any comments?

1100's are good guns and I see nothing wrong with them myself. As far as turkey hunting one shot should be all needed so if you are looking for a cheap gun look at some of the single shots.

Rem 1100 is a great gun. I killed a bunch of deer with an older one, it was my first 12 ga. But i agree, turkey hunting is typically a one shot deal. I know you said autoloader, however if you are not dead set on an autoloader I would look for an OLDER 870.

Although I have killed Spring Gobllers with a pump, I prefer an autoloader only for the reason that there isn't the off chance that the forend/slide may rattle.

If you harbor an un-reasonable fear of Turkeys from child hood it is definately better to go with an auto in case you are attacked.

I have been Very happy with my Mossburg 935 auto for less than $400....... And the factory Extra Full Chokes are arguably as good as expensive aftermarket choke tubes. By the way, I think 1100's are one of the most reliable auto's out there, but I like a shooting magnum shells........ My 1100 is 2 3/4( not sure if they come in 3").

Check Bass Pro Shop. They have an interesting Stoeger 2000 Combo, 2 barrel set,2 stocks. It is a 3inch gun though.

My Benelli Super Nova pump would not rattle if I drove my Suburban over it! Around $400 if you shop around. I have a Mossberg as well, but if the first shot didn't scare a turkey, a little rattle while you pump should not bother it!
