The guy we had backed out and won't do it now because he says it too much for him. We haven't yet been able to find anyone else who wants to plow the road. Its a long single lane drive covered with about 2' of snow. We're not too far from the Loch Raven Fishing Center in Phoenix.

Eminent Brother,
I live at the top of a big hill and we haven't seen a snow plow. But I have a 4x4 so I got out yesterday to rescue my daughter's dog from the doggie emergency room.

tim, make a sign (similar to house for sale), take it down to the main road a post it............say...................PLOW WANTED: CALL..........,many guys will want the work, the problem is you don't know who they are. you need to get it done before another 6-12" arrives wed. am or you will need heavy equipment...mucho$$$.

make the sign its visible from both directions. i had mine plowed first time ever, it cost $175 and you know how long my drive way and parking area/s are. i gave him a $25 tip. by wed. am we will have another 6-12" on the ground. i will also call the plow guy today and get to be #1 on the list for wednesday am.

like to leave for florida on fri. AM.

My son likes to look at Craig's list.
He showed me the ads for snow plow wanted and also snow plow for hire.
Might be worth a shot.

Timbo,

My Mom lives over in Baldwin, said her drive way (long = 1/2 mile-3/4mile) was a mess. The neighbor plows it and has a business, but my Mom said she has not seen him other then to make an up and down on her driveway to keep it clear.

Are you on Delaney Valley or Jarrettsville Pike?

Hopefully you got someone by now?

Brandon

FWIW: Some of the private plow guys are being hired for the entire day.
My neighbor works with a volunteer fire company. they hired a private plow to go on the ambulance calls since many side roads are still tough to get through.
Other thing is some plows have been broken down. Plowing is very tough on a truck and 24 hours or more of plowing can do damage to the tranny - differental - even the frame.
Last is the drivers. They have beaten themselves up - working very long days.

Now we get round two - Tuesday night - :eek2::eek2:.

No it doesn't go down then back up. The road is 1/2 mile long to my house. The bottom part and up to about an 1/8 of the way has been plowed but we are still a long way from being able to get out. Supplies are dwindling and my wife is going stir crazy. I'm going to shovel some more today while I wait for help. My brother is supposed to come down around noon with a Bobcat. Meanwhile, more snow is expected. At least I have almost a full bottle of Jim Beam left!

Thanks Andy! I know you would. And thanks to all the TFers who offered to help. I called off my brothers help from PA because we had a local farmer come plow us out this morning with his John Deere front-end loader. Here's a few pics of the clean driveway just in time for more snow.
At least we can get out now.

Well, the plow out job from Tuesday lasted about an hour before we got hit with another 18" or so and by Wednesday became essentially stranded again. Fortunately, we got hold of another farmer with a monster John Deere snow blower who got us out yesterday by 6 pm. I'll post a couple pics later but suffice it to say - Come on Spring!

Sorry Timbo, I didn't see your hail for help.........was busy digging out neighbors, waiting for the county to bring a 10-foot vee plow in to open the secondary roads. I live in Jarrettsville, and some of the drifting up here is over 12-feet deep..........ugh ! ! Knew I shoulda left here before the snow came.
