I spent a few days in southwest florida kayak fishing and really fell in love with it. I have been studying up on models to buy, etc. and lurking around this and other sites.

One question I have is which cars are "capable" of carrying one or two kayaks. I have to buy and obviously one of the things that is important is that it be able to handle one or two kayaks, with a rack. Does it matter what kind of car it is?

Buy a yakima or tule rack and you should not have any problems. I think most racks are rated for a 150-lb capacity. Goto the Yakima website to see if they have a rack to fit your make and model car. I was able to put 3 yaks on my Ford Probe before I bought my Tacoma truck. I would not recommend 3 yaks on a small car for long trips. But 2 yaks on a just about any car should not be a problem.
