Our area was pretty much closed down today because of the snow and winds. The city of Lancaster is closed, no traffic on the city streets until Friday morning which means a lot of people won't be going in to work until the Ban is lifted.
How bad is it where you live?

Same thing here in Mt. Airy John. I went out on my 4 wheeler and not a car in sight. I went to the gas station and the roads were un plowed and it looked like a ghost town. There are piles of snow 20 feet high in parking lots from the last snow. This will be around for a while and it is still coming down heavy. We have about 50 inches of snow everywhere and some 6 foot drifts........Gary

We got about 10-12 more. Believe it or not the roads are in better shape now than before the 2nd storm. People stayed off and the plows were able to work. I just came in and got on the 4wheeler to ride thru the hood and it's in pretty good shape. Tee and I are going back out after supper and do the neigbors drive's. We did about half already and should be done by midnite. I sure wish the bobcat had a heater on it. Schools I hear are closed for the rest of the week.
Total overall, I'm guessing in ter 40 range. Hard to measure with the pack and wind blow.

We ended up with 19" of new snow but the biggest problem was the wind, 40 - 45 mph.
We had a severe accident report where two were riding a snowmobile on the city streets of Lancaster. They collided with a car that was turning onto a street. The male driver of the snowmobile died at the scene and the female passenenger died at the hospital. We see snowmobiles and all terrian vehicles on our roads all the time. The only time it's legal is if the Governor declares declares a state of emergency for the entire state.
They also learned the hard way

I assume there were no horse and buggy accidents or horses getting stuck:eek2: Sad to see folks die that way.

No horse and buggy accidents were reported just the nuts that know everything.
Another report
During the last snow some guy near here lost his life running around on a snowmobile at 2:00am in the morning. He was riding it thru farm fields until he hit an electric guide wire attached to a power pole.
