Wow! It looks like they're shrinking. The above results make me feel better about myself. We caught lots of nice dolphin in 2009; several over 25 lbs and our biggest was 39 lbs (out of OI) which is the same as the Virginia record. What is my secret for catching big dolphin? Well, just try to catch tuna.

This 39-lber took a looong time to get into the boat. Once landed he tried to destroy everything in the boat. Meanest fish I've ever caught. Right after we caught him, we landed a YFT, two other dolphin, and 7 AJ's all in less than one hour. And there were only two of us in my boat. It was great. I really have no idea what we were doing right that day.

Kayak, you were in the right place at the right time, that makes a lot of difference, sometimes they practically jump in the boat, other times you have to really know what you are doing to catch one or two. Nothing wrong with being lucky--it's nice being good, but I always hope to be lucky. NC is the spot for dolphin, Hatteras is even better than OI for them.

just re-checked there was one caught on the first day of the billfish tourney 52.1 lbs, caught on the BIG OH. probably didn't bother with the citation. maybe the check was a little more important.

You've popped my bubble. Actually, ours weighed 39 lb 0 oz AFTER we bled him. So, maybe, just maybe, with blood, he would have weighed over 52.1 lbs.
