The Northern Flicker is one of my favorite birds, with little opportunity to photograph in the past. Today I was set up to shoot Hairy and Downey Woodpeckers and to my surprise this bird came in for a visit on the suet,
Enjoy.

Those flickers used to be my least favorite bird when I was a kid (well maybe a close second to starlings). Our house had some sort of composite siding on it, and they continually put holes in the siding. But the worst part was our aluminum roof. They just loved to use if for drumming to stake out their territory. Many a planned teenage late summer morning sleep was interrupted at first light by what sounded like a machine gun outside my bedroom window. But great pictures.

Very nice shots, rinky. More than 100 viewers have enjoyed them. Not everyone posts that looks every time. I know I don't, but that doesn't mean your efforts are as underappreciated as you might think. Keep up the good work.
