Aside from tying flies, being snowbound has enabled me to get some rigging done on my Trident 13. We have a lot of snow on the ground here in Maryland and I imagine that it will take some time for all of it to melt.
Last week I installed the Rod Pod and this weekend I installed my fish finder and 2 Scotty flush mount rod holders behind the seat. I also finished a milk crate with a light and triple rod holder. Between the 2 Scotty rod holders, the 3 vertical rod holders mounted on the mik crate, and the space from the rod pod, I think I should be covered with rod storage. Just need to install the anchor trolley and zig zag cleats now. I'll post more when I get that done.
Here's a video of everything I've done. More info and pics are on my blog http://smallwater.wordpress.com/
** i tried to embed the video from youtube but it's just showing the embed code - you can see the same video on my blog.

nice work! i mount my rod holders up front not as limber as i used to be, i like to keep stuff up front inside the hatch between my legs and keep bait and drinks in a cooler that fits in the milk crate

Where do you put rod holder in front of the kayaker? Does the gunwale wide enough for the scotty base or the Ram base? I am looking for a long and narrow kayak as a spare. I did not consider Trident 15 because I din't know how to put the rod holder(s) in front of me. Also, I did not like tarpon 16 because it is missing scupper hole on the seat area. I am runningout of choice.

Where did you find the ammo box ( tackle box )? The boat looks great.

hey, guys. thanks for the input.
joe, i haven't installed any front rod holders yet. not sure i'm going to. for most of the fishing i do, i fish real tight to bridge pilings - sometimes jamming my bow right up against them. don't really want any rods poking out in front of me. i have some leftover scotty and ram mounts, so i think i might use them and mount electronics (vhf radio and pgs) on either side of the sonar shield.
aquaman, i ordered that drybox straight from flambeau. i'm very particular when it comes to color, so i wanted something yellow or black to keep the color scheme going. the plano boxes come in green and orange. i found this yellow one, but the yellow is a little off, but close enough. it took some digging on the interwebs, but i found it here. http://www.flambeauhardware.com/brute_srs/brute.asp the dimnesions are close enough to fit in there with a little room.

Joe, ram makes a ball mount for narrow areas, i used them on my Revo. they come with heavy duty metal base that goes inside very strong. a little tricky getting your hand in and have to make sure not to interfere with the rudder cables.

there's definitely room for them on either side of the sonar shield. it would be an easy install. judging from his videos looks like joe does a lot of trolling from his hobie. up front would be a good place for them.
i imagine there's a sweet spot - out of the way from your paddlestroke, close enough to grab when a fish is on, and hopefully not too far away.
