I have my anchor set up on a pulley system to be able to move it from the front to the back of the yak but I don’t have a system to bring in the anchor line and store the anchor line and anchor. I am fishing a tarpon 140 and I am just sticking the line and anchor behind the seat. This is working OK in calm water but it tends to slide off the yak in rough water bringing me to an unexpected stop. Quite comical I am sure to watch. Any suggestions?

I have one of those little claw type folding anchors.I just fold it up & lay it beside me.

Get a small crab pot float and wrap the line around it. Extension cord storage reels work also.

i use a small snap that is connected to the anchor and clip it to the yak behind me.

I use a mesh bag and feed the anchor line into it first then the anchor..... like I do in the anchor locker on my power boat. I then put the mesh bag in a file crate that I bought at K-Mart for $4.50. The crate will fit in the nolded portion of the tank well behind me. The crate is bungeed into the tank well.

well what i did with my kayak really works great for me. I have a milk crate. Attached to the side of the crate i built a wooden "H" shaped spool and painted it. The way i use it is i either put the anchor in the crate or outside of it, wrap all excess line around the spool. In rough water i take a small bungee and attach the anchor to the crate or put inside. I wish i had a picture to put on here and show you.

I store mine in a mesh bag, and reel the line up on a handle to a crab throw line... similar to a kite string reel. Got it all at Dick's for under $5, works great... no more tangled anchor line.

thanks to all great ideas. I was just sick of getting the line knoted up and the fun stops that were unexpected.

I wrap my line around a piece of pool noodle. That way it rolls out and I can wrap it around it easily. And the bonus is, if I need to toss it over board because of a large fish I need to follow or chase, the pool noodle floats and I just paddle back and get it after I have caught my moster fish (unfortunely, that has not happened yet...lol)

Ditto va_fisherman. I even have an egg sinker lodged in one end of the foot long section of pool noodle, and reflective tape on the other, so that it stands upright in the water and is easier to see even in poor light or if I have to chase a fish quite a ways. Also ditto that I have not needed this feature as much as I would like.
