Has anyone use Heavy shot for Turkey Does it work as good, better or worse that lead. I use a mossburg 835 with federal 4's 2 1/4 oz. I have had great success. but heavy shot seems to be the latest greatest. DOES IT WORK???????????

Kent Matrix works wonders, using a twenty gauge and 3" 3 shot I rolled geese this season. It's also a little cheaper, and can be used in tight chokes. I'll use it over hevi-shot every time.

Stuff is great for waterfowl, I agree. However for turkey, lead is very lethal. Kent matrix is twice as much as lead turkey loads. Hevi-shot/Kent......I think is un necessary, but if it works for you, that's great. Some patterens I've seen on these boards have been very impressive.

Durado,
I'm with you on lead, if the law permits it's use, by all means use it. I was voicing my opinion on Hevi-shot in general. Stuff is way too expensive as far as I'm concerned. I know the Matrix isn't cheap, but as for as non-toxics go, I think its the best bang for your buck. This year I shot a lot of faststeel too, I was very impressed with it's killing power as well.

By rolling my own HS, it's about $1 per shell. If Kent Matrix was available in bulk, I would switch in a heartbeat and the Parker and LC Smith doubles would see more use.
I agree on the Fasteel. Couple it with a wad stripping choke and you have a great combo.

Okay guys I watched the Remington vid and it looks like this stuff should increase my effective range on turkey by 10 to 20 yards. I useully only use 2 shell each year how much more can it cost. I might get more chance at birds with the extened range!Isn't better, better????

I was looking for which choke tube to use in my Benelli and came across this on the NWTF site, which may give you an idea of some choke tubes for heavy shot.
