Well last weekend was a second trip to a Pond in Quinton that shall remain unnamed. Many Chain Pickerel, a few bass and a stringer of Crappie made for a great day on "Ole Stump Jump Jumper". Minnows on bobbers, Beetle Spins in white and yellow and other crappies jigs seemed to work equally well. The Pike were hitting hard and very fun to catch, the biggest being about 20". Crappies at around #1, no big slabs though. On cleaning them, they are just getting going on the spawn. Not fat with eggs yet. One nice close to #3 bass was fattening up very well.

After the cold front , yesterday we took OSJ to Daiscunds (can never spell it right) Reservoir and got skunked. Threw the tackle box at them all and saw one boat get a nice BIG bass on a Watermelon Brush Hogg I think they said. (Never talk loud on a reservoir if want to keep secrets!)

Ran a whole battery and covered about 60% of the joint looking for them deep shallow and everything in between. Almost had to paddle the rest of the way back to the dock.

Hoping to chase Shad in the James downtown next weekend, they are here, and possibly get a big cat or two.

Our spring fishing starts with crappie/Pike/Bass in the ponds and reservoirs, then Shad and big Cats downtown, then Croakers in the York and Rapp, then Spring Rockfish, then Flounder at 42(ish) and then back to Potomac for everything else in the summer running and gunning breaking fish. Evan is going for his next youth angler award. He got paper last year at the beach on a Sea Mullet (Whiting) and we are trying to get paper for something this year from someone on the boat. It keeps eluding us.

Spring fishing is here and mostly good. Get out there!
