Quick report for Sat. & Sun.

Sat., 1 small gaffer, 1 40# YFT and one 97" monster BFT released on the 600 line. Well over 500 pounds. We already killed a 85 incher 2 weeks ago so killing it was not an option.

Sun., A limit of 12 nice class YFT caught between the 575 and 600 in 72 degree water about a miile over the change. We were on the way to barn at 11:30.

A great weekend with great weather and good friends Darius, Jason and Lewis.

Awesome work. You must keep your stuff just right. I'm sure we had a few shots this season but never managed to hold one for one reason or another. Now it looks like time has run out for us.

We have been lucky in that all the big fish have hit our long baits which are attached to our 3 80W Tiagras.
The 97" fish was caught on large blue/white spreader bar we rigged with a 500# leader on the white squid trailer. It got bit while the bar was at rest while we were fighting a YFT (drifter bite). I was shocked when I saw how big it was. I expected a 160-200# fish but it was huge. I guess draging that bar around whipped him as much as the rod and reel did.
We had just spooled the reel the night before with 300 yard of 250# power pro with 130# jinki backing connected with a large spro wind on swivel. We had broken a big one off the bar 2 weeks ago and that seemed to be the best set up. Not sure if that is best set up or not but it worked well on that Pig.

We are obsessed with almost every detail of offshore fishing, somtimes too much I suppose. We have been lucky enough to have establish some very good relations with some of the top capains and mates at OIFC and they have taught us a bunch. We try to imulate them as much as we can on small boat and we can ussally hold our when comes to catching fish. We know we will never be able to compete with the charter boats but some days it all comes together and the work and attention to detail pays off.

I'm ready to go again. Sunday looks good.

Sweet action there. Giants and YFT, does it get any better?
