Oh yeah, its on!!! Fished Fletchers 4-6-10, 6:00am-1:30pm. I caught dozens of hickories using spinning gear. Not quite silly fast but fast enough. Almost all were mediums with a few jumbos in the mix. Curious though, I caught almost none of those little 12"-14" bucks that would sometimes dominate the catch during previous years. These were all good fish. Unfortunately, I caught no white shad however I did see "Salmo" catch his white shad.
Lures of choice were 1.5" to 3/4" soft plastics in variations of sparkle chartreuse/lime green. The small 3/4" tubes and twistertails seemed to out produce the larger 1.5" plastic tubes and twistertails... so think small. Gold and silver spoons also caught their fair share.
I caught shad everywhere I tried. Everyone who knew how to cast a shad dart was catching. Water clarity was a good 3 feet or more. Shad hit right through low tide, didn't seem to matter.
By noon it was fairly hot there with a blistering sun overhead:sweatdrop:. If you go tomorrow (Weds.) don't forget your sunscreen like I did. I mean... seems like I was shoveling snow just a few weeks ago so why should I have thought of sunscreen???... how can summer happen so fast?!?!?
