Fletchers, 4-8-10

Fished Fletchers from shore, 4-8-10, 10:45am-2:30pm, using spinning gear. Decent action for hickories, caught about 30 in 3.5 hours, all mediums or better. Also caught 1 small buck white shad. He was a little bigger than a jumbo hickory, nice fight. For me action was somewhat slower than my trip on Tuesday however, the guys out in the boats seem to be doing better than I was. Water continues to get clearer, vis about 4'-5', not too shabby.

About 12:30pm, 3 rescue boats with lights flashing rushed up river to about 1/4 mile above the Fletchers pier. Anyone know what that was about?

Kayakers and canoers be forwarned. The river side of the lower Fletchers parking lot were cars park to off load kayaks and canoes is temporary closed. Its being used as a staging area for a huge mountain of woody debris waiting to be ground up and hauled away. The top side of the Fletchers parking lot along the tow path is still open but that adds another 100 feet to the carry to the waters edge.

Fished Thur form 3-6 in one of Fletchers row boats. We had a good day but not as good as WED. The wind was terrible late afternoon. About knocked myself out with a jig head. Wind caught the fly line on the back cast and dropped in low. Probably was my crappy casting but I'll blame the wind. Later after 6 we walked the bank towards Chain Bridge and caugt a few when we were able to get the jigs out to the breaks. All in all a great time.
