Can't do much this year...Baby is due...the wife's heart is acting up getting kinda of risky so gotta stay close to home, I may slip out behind the house 'bout 800 acres there w/o any hunting pressure til shotgun season. There are several groups hanging around, everyone feeds them including me so I really never wanted to hunt them. I'm afraid of sticking one and having it run into a yard in the final minutes of death and having to excuse myself to Mrs. Jones who happens to be reading her latest copy of PETA Journal. But you do what you gotta do.

I'll be hanging either at my farm or my father in law's. WEre in MD and the season opens mid Sept. I've been putting tillng ground, liming and fertilizing it in prep for clover and some biologic the end of this month. Will be over one of those plots am and pm.

As soon as we get done offshore fishing its hunting fulltime!

I have a mixed hardwood section that I can hunt. Its usually good early but falls off when the leaves drop. I'm normally very selective about what I shoot, always looking for a decent buck. This year I'll probably take whatever shot I'm given. I'm bidding on a new job, and if I get it, I probably won't have as much time to sit in the tree. I've got a new sight on my bow this year and can't wait to put it on one. I've also got some spitfires to try.....
I tried some Rocket Sidewinders last year, they were pretty tough, but they weren't very sharp right out of the pack.

Sure gonna miss the "Green Hornet" he was looking forward to hunting this year, I mean he was fired up about rejoining and getting more involved. I know it was his grandson Matt that got him going again and it's a shame they aren't gonna be able to share the time we all did. And as far as hunting this year I gonna get some time in but not as much as in the past, I have a show opening on the 17th of November thru the 20th, we have set up the week prior so that jams up week 2 of muzzy season and breakdown jams up the first week of general firearms. I hope that next year I be able to put in a little more time. Plus i like how it gets on your nerves when I say I ain't huntin' and you see me there everyday. [grin][grin][grin]

I'll be in my stand in NorthHampton Co., NC in 29 days!

For the VA opener, I'll be hunting the swamp behind my house in VA beach. Then off to Newport News to hunt commercial land for a 20" Six Point I missed last year... (yeah, six points but a mounter fo sure)

Hey "See-Ya" (Jeff),
I was fortunate to know your uncle, I work at BI. Pat was one of the nicest gentlemen I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He and I were just talking about the upcoming hunting season a couple of weeks before his untimley death, he was really looking forward to taking his grandson. I know you don't know me but I would like to let you know that your family has been in my prayers. Pat will surely be missed. God bless.

Good Hunting!
Regards,
Howard

Watched 7 deer feed in one of my small plots this afternoon,3 fawns,2 mature does, a smallish 8 pt. and a nice 10pt. The larger buck acted like he knew I was watching. This guy was very tense. The wind was in my face so he couldn't smell me for sure. He is around 2o inches wide but has shorter than average tine lenght. He looks like a young deer that could turn out to be a real trophy. Too bad the other guys that hunt around me kill everything that has horns.

They are keeping the Tecomate Monster Mix mowed down. My two plots are small and I water them so they are green and lush.
