My dad and I drove up to State College today to fish the Grannom Caddis Hatch on the Little Juniata River. If you have never seen this hatch, it is an amazing sight. Grannoms hatch in huge numbers. Shrubs alongside of the stream become covered with bugs. It's difficult to capture with the camera, but if you look closely on the stream photo below, you can see the clouds of caddis. They appear as blurry specks in the photo. (If you click on the first photo, you can scroll through the photos in full size.) I just figured this out. ;)

We left Camp Hill at 7:00 and fished from 9:30 to 1:30. The Caddis were already hatching when we arrived at the stream. I caught 10 brown trout and my dad caught three. We missed many other fish. Everything was caught on #14 and #16 deerhair or CDC black caddis dry flies. I used a tandom rig with a #14 and #16 dryfly 10 inches apart which worked very well.

Hey Chris I've never been able to make it up there for that hatch. But man what a great little river. It's got to be one of the most pleasent rivers around to fish. I really loved it up there. Now thats one i will miss fishing.
