Well since I’ve been back I’m upset.:hammer: My hero the chum’ser has not made a pilgrimage to the fly board to welcome me back from my long hiheydus. I thought he would come over and welcome me back with at least a big sloppy wet kiss.:hugeachother: So because of that I’m breaking one of his rule. NO FISHING REPORTS. So for only the second time in all the years I’ve been here I’m giving one. That will show him.:rockingman2:
Now don’t all you guys that have known me for all these years go and do something dumb, like jump off some building or some thing like that. Thinking the world is going to end. So ok here we go.
Now here I was sitting in front of the boob tube thinking. Why am I sitting here. When the tide is coming in and it’s coming on to evening. Soooo I got up and drove up to the Inlet. Just to give my casting arm some work. Not really intent on catching anything.. I got there about 7:25pm. Walk out to my favorite rock and begin to do what all fly fisherman do, when they don’t really expect to catch any thing. Contemplate the act of casting a fly upon the water. When out of no were this @#$@%$#@$#:censored: striper has to go and ruin my contemplating. Now look at what the bleep and bleep you’ve gone and done. Now I’m going to have to get down these@#@$#@$ :censored:rocks to land you. Well he must have heard me, cause he got off. Which made me feel relieved. But wouldn’t you know it before I could get the fly out of the water. Another dummy hit and got him self hooked. So I had to go down the rocks and land him. Man this contemplation is for the birds.
So I release him and back up the rocks I go. Make another cast and hook up again. Now back down the rocks again , land and release and back up the rocks again. Now I’m not just tired but up set. Man all I wanted was some contemplation time. Well again they must have heard me. Because the next three cast were undisturbed. Now I was able to do what in fly fishing is called , resting the water. You know, I think resting the water was invented by and old fly fisherman like me. Just to rest your self between these @#$#@$:censored: fish interrupting your contemplating. So after resting the water, I make another cast. Two hits. Both missed. Man did I luck out. Soooooo back to resting the water. Man I like that. Then back up three cast another hit and then Another stupid fish. Sooooo down the rocks I go land , release and back up the rocks. Dam this is getting out of control. So I do what all really old and wise fly fishers do. I again rest the water. I can get use to that. Well by this time its getting really dark. And the tide is all most stopped. So I do what all fly fishers do. I say ok One more cast. And you know what happened? Another really dumb striper hit and goes and gets him self hooked. So You guessed it. Back down the rocks play , land and released. And Back up the rocks. But in the end I lucked out again. The tide had completely stopped and no fish where breaking. So I could walk back to my truck and put my fly rod away. And drive home while now finally getting in some real contemplation. In the end 4 stripers landed one lost and 4 missed . So I guess that wasn’t a bad way to spend an hour and ten mins. Now for you guys that have to know how big. Well they where only about 17 to 18”. All cookie cuter size. But really fat like me. And I have to really end this by saying. I did have some fun. When them @#$#@%$#:censored: fish would leave me alone.

I have to admit that it really is annoying when the village (or stream as the case may be) idiot decides to interrupt my act of contemplative flyfishing by actually taking my fly causing a disruption to my ongoing cognitive processes until I can land and release said idiot and return to my former contemplative state.

You might actually try what a long deceased friend used to do - he would clip off the hook point on his fly so that he would not be bothered with having to actually play and release the fish. He was satisfied in fooling the fish into taking his fly, enjoy one or two tugs before the fly came out of the fish's mouth and then proceed cast to another fish. His enjoyment came in fooling the fish into hitting his fly not in landing it.

Hey Guy thats a good idea. When I was younger, the fish where so smart. That they would turn the hook sideways and grab the hook across the bend with their lips. Then they would hold on just long enough to get closs. So they could wink at me just before letting go:thumbup:. Now I only get the dumb ones.
