Man. I'm so pissed. I broke my casting arm badly last week while hiking/climbing out west. Radius broke just above the wrist, and I'm expecting to receive some replacement hardware (a plate) this week.
I know it will heal, but right now with the swelling and blown tendons, it is hard to imagine casting a fly rod.
Sorry to be a big baby, but I won't be contributing for awhile.
I do however continue to fish vicariously through you guys!

Hey Chris sorry to hear about the arm. I know it hurts in more ways then one. But If the bug gets to bad you could join us leftys.

There's never a good time for an injury like that. Hope the recuperative process is short. At least a beer bottle can still be opened with the left hand and a church key!

I messed up my shoulder a few years ago and was forced to learn to cast left handed. My shoulder healed, but being ambidextrous comes in handy. Here's to a quick recovery.

Sorry to hear that, hope you recover quickly. I wonder how hard it would be to learn to cast with the opposite hand though. Something to try before I have too I guess.

I had to learn because I was teaching Fly fishing for a major line company. I found that right handers have a few different problems then leftys. And it also goes the other way. Being left handed, I had to learn how to cast right hand. But Its really not hard once you put your mind to it. The bigest problem you will face is your self. Just making your self stay with it and practice pratice pratice.

You COULD start trolling!!! Someone has to drive the boat! haha
When you are all fixed up, we will be able to go out and chase some schoolies by then.
The plant sucked anyway today. I put a 22 on my fly rod and a smaller one on the regular. It was not that rough running up, however, the outflow had a weird current and after the first 40yards, it got extremely rough and
wasn't really fishable. HUGE rollers 4+feet at sometimes.
The worst part about it, I got spooled somehow, but it wasn't a fish. My drag screamed like bloody murder and all the sudden, when I went to snap it, I was all ready out of line.
I now have a naked spool and just blew $20 braided line. So, I planned on buying some for my Cardiff and now I have to get another spool for my Symetre!!!!
I don't know if it was a rock or what, I havn't seen line jump off that fast though, who knows what it was. Maybe, it could have been CHESSIE!

Yeah right. I can't even tie my shoes, much less a non slip loop.
This is gonna take a while. I meet w/ the ortho surgeon in Annapolis this afternoon.
Thanks for the reports, Guys.
