The kids have been screaming to fish for something "real" that we can take home and eat and the weather was right on Sunday, so we rolled for OC and left the inlet at zero-dark-thirty with a bucket of green crabs and plenty of tog rigs. Started at the AQ reef site (on a chunk of structure ID'd in Rudow's Guide to Fishing the Mid Atlantic (http://www.geareduppublications.com), from Geared Up Publications, BTW,) and Max got the action off to a good start with this 8.5 pounder.

We put a three pounder into the box too, and broke off a couple of nice ones, but the bite died off very quickly as the sun rose into the sky. They didn't hit well for the next several hours so we ran inshore and tried a shallow (32') wreck a few miles from the inlet. The tog there were smaller but snapping, and we added a couple more to the box and caught a lot of throw-backs. Green crab was the hot bait (also tried peelers & squid) by a long shot. If you're going to give it a shot be warned, all the tackle shops I called weren't opening until 8 or 9 so you might want to pick up your crabs the day before you're going to fish!
