Does anyone know if the connection for Garmin Fishfinders and Gps/Fishfinders is universal. Have a Garmin 140 Fishfinder now and am looking to upgrade to a Gps/FF unit, but like the transducer that I have and feel that xtra $$ can go toward the unit itself.

Thanks for your input!

From what I can remember, they are the same plug, but the combo unit will have the FF and GPS signal come in through the same plug...

i.e. to save the transducer, you'd need to do a little splicing and soldering work, which is not recommended with transducer cables.

If youve got a fancy transducer, you may want to look into the digital sounding modules + the network.

Greentop's guy is Steve.

I think so too. I agree to ask the guys at Green Top. Busted off my transducer a few years back in rough water. The replacement they sold me looked a lot different than what came with the unit (GPS Map 630) smaller and lower profile. Worked just fine adn I like it a lot better anyway.
