if you mean fishing for stripers in the bay , I'll be around the Bay Bridge, winds permitting. Agreed that Sunday looks to be the better day.

How crowded is the SPSP small craft launching area on the Opening day? Is the BB area too crowded for kayaki-trolling?

Guaranteed there will be lots of boat traffic in and out of SPSP but only a minority fish within sight of the bridge. Although some trollers run their boards parallel to the bridge there's usually enough room for yak fishermen.
It may be kind of sporty on Sunday according to the NOAA forecast. If that proves to be the case I may opt to wait until Monday or Tuesday......

spsp is a zoo on opening day hemmingways would be better to launch from. once you get in spsp the smallcraft area should be cool the rangers keep people from parking there if they arnt launching.

Looking forward to hear some yak reports. Steve, I might see you on Tuesday at the BB.

Yep, Tuesday is looking very yak-friendly at this point (12:00am+ Saturday). At least compared to Sat/Sun and maybe even Monday. I'll be launching early from the eastern shore and will work my way up and down the bridge until whenever- I'm planning to make a day of it. Hope to see some of you out there. For those intrepid types that just can't wait, good luck and please log a report!

have any yakfishers tried for stripers yet this season? I'll be out tomorrow morning at the Bay Bridge. I plan to launch from the eastern shore and fish both sides of the tide.

My wife again gave me a list of things to do in April for last 3 years. Also had a house guest over the weeken. Did I miss anything? I heard it was windy over the weekend.

Rats! Can't make it out this week. Unanticipated travel has sunk my plans to fish today. Hope someone in a yak gets out there and, if so, good luck!

blew off kayaking this weekend and went to pax river, fished from 6am till 12pm, pretty slow until 930 then the bite turned on and we had 4 keepers for us by 1130. a 32,30 and 2-29". went to the tackle box bait shop they had a deal the first 10 keepers brought in got 20 gift certificates and a pic on the wall. we were the 1st 4 in.
looks like this weekend not looking that good for the yak either so probably go back to hog point. the tide will be better in the morning this weekend.

Thanks, Sam
I was always wondering if some keeper stripers are in the tributries. It is very good to know especially when the wind blows.
I am finally free to fish this weekend. Pax river will be my back up if the wind blows.
Thanks again.
MBLA,
I think I will hit Breezy Point marina this Saturday. I just want to kayak in a wide open area. I have been confined during the winter.

Make sure you check which rivers are open to striper fishing right now. I believe most of Pax river is closed until later in the season.
The DNR couldn't possibly make the regs more confusing:
http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/no_page2.asp?page=/fisheries/regulations/sbrecseasons/sbregmap03.html
Look on bottom left square there for maps of the 6 different striped bass seasons (or whatever you call them) in Maryland over the course of a year.
Either way, looks like Pax is closed for now.

Thanks for reminding of the regs.
This year I completely forgot about the regs for boundaries in the spring.
